Safety is a Priority

The Province of Prince Edward Island is working with the City of Charlottetown, Charlottetown Police Services, community partners and the Senior Advisor for Islanders with Complex Needs to ensure safety remains a priority. Measures include:

  • Funding to support enhanced policing resources with the Charlottetown Police Service
  • On-site security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • A Resident Support Team to work with homeowners in adjacent and nearby properties
  • Perimeter fencing and an intake process for people to reduce loitering
  • Improved lighting around the area
  • Multiple clean-up crews to ensure garbage and debris are cleaned up in public spaces
  • Appropriate procedures to work with clients who don’t follow the accountability measures or don’t show respect for neighbours, community, and staff
